World Navies Today: Ukraine
Revised 25 March 2002
Version 1.03
Compiled and Maintained by: Andrew Toppan
World Navies Today Main Page: http://www.hazegray.org/worldnav/
This list includes all surface combatants, submarines, mine warfare
vessels and patrol craft over 100 tons displacement, and all amphibious
ships and auxiliaries over 500 tons displacement. Non-self-propelled
craft and non-seagoing vessels are not included.
Ships not yet commissioned, or in long-term overhaul/conversion, are
listed in [brackets]. Navigation and surface-search radars are not
listed. All classifications are purely unofficial and are based on an
attempt to use standard classifications throughout all navies; they may or
may not correspond to "official" designations.
Surface Combatants
Note: The Ukraine had announced its intention to complete the
final Russian 'Slava' class cruiser (formerly Admiral Flota Lobov)
for its own use, as Ukrayina. However, the ship has recently been
offered for sale to Russia.

Note: Two Vytegrales class cargo ships were transferred in
1996 but have not been put into service; they are laid up and probably
deteriorating.
Note: Two Dobrynya Nikitich class port icebreakers are
probably under local control at Odesa, not under naval control. The sail
training ship Khersones, Tovaristsch and possibly
others are under civilian control.
Note: A large fleet of scientific ships (space event support
ships, survey ships, research ships, etc.) were abandoned in the Ukraine
upon the collapse of the USSR; they have become Ukranian property.
However, none is under naval control, and most have been sold or are
working in commercial service.
