The Deck Log & War Diary of USS DENVER (CL 58) is being
transcribed by Richard
Bennett as a tribute to the 2700 men who served in the ship during her
brief career. The transcript has been faithfully transcribed from the
original, except that personnel matters (leave, disciplinary actions,
etc.) have been omitted.

USS DENVER, a CLEVELAND class light cruiser, was built
by New York Shipbuilding, Camden, NJ. The ship's keel was laid 26
December 1940; she was launched 12 February 1942 and placed In Commission
at Philadelpha Navy Yard 15 October 1942.

The remainder of the log is "under construction" and will be completed
as time allows.
After extensive combat service during WWII, DENVER was placed
Out of Commission, In Reserve on 7 February 1947. The ship was stricken from
the Naval Vessels Register 1 March 1959, sold 29 February 1960 and
scrapped at Kearny, NJ in November 1960.
