Maine armored cruiser

Displ: 7,180 tons full load Dim: 324.5 x 57 x 22 ft Prop: VTE engines, 8 135 psi boilers, 1 shaft, 8750 hp, 17 knots Crew: 374 Arm: 2 dual 10/35, 6 6/40, 7 6 pound, 8 1 pound, 4 14 inch TT, 4 gatling Armor: 7-12 inch belt, 1-4 inch deck, 12 inch barbettes, 8 inch turrets, 10 inch CT. Changed to Second Class Battleship 1894. Completely obsolete when completed. ACR-1/(none) Maine Built by New York Navy. Laid down 17 Oct 1888, launched 18 Nov 1889, commissioned 17 Sept 1895. Sunk by explosion at Havana 15 Feb 1898, 252 killed. Raised 13 Feb 1912, scuttled at sea 16 March 1912.

New York armored cruiser

Displ: 9,021 tons full load Dim: 384 x 65 x 24 ft Prop: VTE engines, 6 160 psi boilers, 2 shafts, 16,800 hp, 18.75 knots Crew: 419, plus 30 Marines (plus 23 as flagship) Arm: 2 dual, 2 single 8/35, 12 4/40, 3 18 inch TT Armor: 4 inch belt, 2.5-6 inch deck, 5.5 inch turrets, 10 inch barbettes, 7.5 inch CT Early armored cruiser, intended for service with the battlefleet. ACR-2/CA 2 New York Built by Cramp. Laid down 30 Sept 1890, launched 2 Dec 1891, commissioned 1 Aug 1893. Rebuilt at Boston 1905-1909 with 4 8/45, 10 5/50, 8 3/50. Renamed Saratoga 16 Feb 1911, decommissioned 6 Feb 1916, recommissioned 23 April 1917. Two 5" and all 3" removed during WWI, two 3/40 AA added. Renamed Rochester 1 Dec 1917, decommissioned 23 April 1923. Moored in the Philippines from 1933, stricken 28 Oct 1938, scuttled as blockship 24 Dec 1941.

Brooklyn armored cruiser

Displ: 10,068 tons full load Dim: 402.5 x 64.5 x 21 ft Prop: VTE engines, 5 boilers, 2 shafts, 16,000 hp, 20 knots Crew: 516 Arm: 4 dual 8/35, 12 5/40, 12 6 lb, 4 1 lb, 4 MG, 4 18 inch TT Armor: 3 inch belt, 3-6 inch deck, 5.5 inch turrets, 4-8 inch barbettes, 8.5 inch CT Improved New York design. ACR-3/CA 3 Brooklyn Built by Cramp. Laid down 2 Aug 1893, launched 2 Oct 1895, commissioned 1 Dec 1896. Decommissioned 8 May 1906, briefly in commission 1907-1908, modernized 1909. Recommissioned 2 March 1914, receiving ship July 1914 to 13 March 1915, 4 5" removed, 2 3/50 AA added during WWI. Decommissioned 9 May 1921, stricken 9 March 1921, sold 20 Dec 1921.

Pennsylvania class armored cruisers

Displ: 15,138 tons full load Dim: 504 x 69.5 x 26.5 ft Prop: VTE engines, 30 250 psi boilers, 2 shafts, 23,00 hp, 22 kt. Crew: 822 Arm: 2 dual 8/45, 14 6/50, 18 3/50, 12 3 lb, 8 1 lb, 4 MG, 2 18 inch TT Armor: 5-6 inch belt, 1.4-4 inch deck, 1.5-6 inch turrets, 6 inch barbettes, 2-9 inch CT Large armored cruisers. Fitted with cage foremasts before WWI. Secondary guns reduced to 4 6 inch, 2 3/50 AA, 10-12 3/50 (except Pittsburgh, 8 6"). ACR-4/CA 4 Pennsylvania Built by Cramp. Laid down 7 Aug 1901, launched 22 Aug 1903, commissioned 9 March 1905. Used for flight deck tests in 1911. Decommissioned 1 July 1911, renamed Pittsburgh 27 Aug 1912. Recommissioned 30 May 1913, decommissioned 15 Oct 1921. Recommissioned 2 Oct 1922. Decommissioned 10 July 1931, stricken 26 Oct 1931, sold 21 Dec 1931. ACR-5/CA 5 West Virginia Buily by Newport News. Laid down 16 Sept 1901, launched 18 April 1903, commissioned 23 Feb 1905. Renamed Huntington 11 Nov 1916. Operated as a seaplane tender in 1917. Decommissioned 1 Sept 1920, stricken 12 March 1930, sold 30 Aug 1930. ACR-6 California Built by Union. Laid down 7 May 1902, launched 28 April 1904, commissioned 1 Aug 1907. Renamed San Diego 1 Sept 1914. Decommisssioned 12 Feb 1917, recommissioned 7 April 1917. Mined and sunk off Fire Island 19 July 1918. ACR-7/CA 7 Colorado Built by Cramp. Laid down 25 April 1901, launched 25 April 1903, commissioned 19 Jan 1905. Decommissioned 17 May 1913. Recommissioned 9 Feb 1915, renamed Pueblo 9 Nov 1916. Decommissioned 22 Sept 1919. Recommissioned 2 April 1921 as receiving ship, decommissioned 28 Sept 1927, stricken 21 Feb 1930, scrapped 2 Oct 1930. ACR-8/CA 8 Maryland Built by Newport News. Laid down 29 Oct 1901, launched 12 Sept 1903, commissioned 18 April 1905. Renamed Frederick 9 Nov 1916. Decommissioned 14 Feb 1922, stricken 12 Nov 1929, sold 11 Feb 1930. Fitted with cage formasts before WWI. Secondary guns reduced to 4 6 inch, 2 3/50 AA, 10-12 3/50, ACR-10 Tennessee Built by Cramp. Laid down 20 June 1903, launched 3 Dec 1904, commissioned 17 July 1906. Renamed Memphis 25 May 1917. Wrecked by tidal wave at San Domingo, 29 Aug 1917, stricken 17 Dec 1917, sold 17 Jan 1922. ACR-11/CA 11/IX 39 Washington Built by New York Shipbuilding. Laid down 23 Sept 1903, launched 18 March 1905, commissioned 7 Aug 1906. Renamed Seattle 9 Nov 1916. Receiving ship 29 Aug 1927-1946. Proposed reconstruction in 1929 cancelled. To IX 11 July 1931. Decommissioned 28 June 1946, stricken 19 July 1946, sold 3 Dec 1946. ACR-12/CA 12 North Carolina Built by Newport News. Laid down 21 March 1905, launched 6 Oct 1906, commissioned 7 May 1908. Renamed Charlotte 7 June 1920. Decommissioned 18 Feb 1921, stricken 15 July 1930, sold 29 Sept 1930. ACR-13/CA 13 Montana Built by Newport News, Laid down 29 April 1905, launched 15 Dec 1906, commissioned 21 July 1908. Renamed Missoula 7 July 1920. Decommissioned 2 Feb 1921, stricken 15 July 1930, scrapped October 1935.
