These ships served primarily as gate vessels while in service with the RCN, and provided for everything from fisheries patrol ships to hospital ships while in civilian service between the wars. THIEPVAL was wrecked on uncharted rocks off British Columbia, while YPRES was run down by HMS REVENGE in Halifax Harbour. ST JULIEN was the longest lived, still existing in 1978.
