Ex-USN

(SS) submarine

This was not a homogenous class of subs, but they are grouped together in the interest of saving space. In order to provide some ASW training for the west coast navy, the former USS BURRFISH, a GATO/BALAO class submarine, was borrowed from the USN and renamed HMCS GRILSE. She was later replaced by another borrowed USN submarine, the former USS ARGONAUT, a TENCH class boat which had undergone the Fleet Snorkel conversion (pictured above).
