Glen class
(YTB) tugs

Notes:

The Glen class
of
tugs are located on both coasts and handle the lions share of towing
and
berthing of naval vessels. They are each powered by twin
Voith-Schneider
cycloidal propulsion units, which make them equally adept at going
backwards
as forwards (and sideways).
Names: Glendyne, Glendale, Glenevis,
Glenbrook, Glenside
Displacement: 350 tons
Dimensions: 95' x 30.5' x 14.5'
Propulsion: 2 Rushton-Paxman diesels, 1800
hp.; 2 Voith Schneider vertical cycloidal props;

These small tugs are
used for general duties as well as assisting the
larger Glen class tugs.
Names:Lawrenceville, Parksville,
Listerville, Merrickville, Marysville
Displacement: 17 tons
Dimensions: 64' x 15.5' x 9'
Propulsion: 1 Caterpillar diesel, 365hp; 1
shaft with Kort Nozzle

Notes:

One of these tugs is
located on each coast. Each is equipped with three fire
monitors (water nozzles) for firefighting.
Names: Firebird, Firebrand
Displacement: 100 tons full load

Propulsion: 1 Vivian diesel, 240 shp.

Sechelt class
TSRV / diving support vessel
|
Notes:
|
Built in 1991, the four
Torpedo Sound Range Vessels (TSRVs) were built to recover expended
torpedoes on the Nanoose test range on the West Coast. Sechelt and
Sooke were converted to diving tenders, while
the remaining two are still at Nanoose.
Names: Sechelt, Sooke, Sikanni, Stikine
Displacement: 291 tons (275 tons as TSRV)
Dimensions: 108' x 33.5'
