BAM-19 was laid down 7 September 1942 by Savannah Machine & Foundry Co., Savannah, Ga.; launched 10 March 1943, transferred to the United Kingdom under lend-lease 22 September 1943; and named HMS Grecian. Returned to the United States Navy in England after the war the mine sweeper was transferred to the government of Turkey under the Military Assistance Program in January 1947. She serves the Turkish Navy as Edincik (M-509).
