Brave
Brave means characterized by courage; ready to incur peril without flight or flinching.

Brave (IX-78) was acquired by the Navy 10 August 1942 as A. Maitland Adams. She was placed in service 10 December 1942 and ordered to Key West, Fla., where she served as a training vessel for the Fleet Sound School throughout her career. She was placed in commission 23 January 1943. The vessel was placed out of commission 14 December 1944 at the Naval Operating Base, Key West.
Brave was transferred to the Maritime Commission for disposal 19 September 1946.
