Madrono

A Lighthouse Service name retained.

Madrono, an iron-hulled lighthouse tender built at Camden, N.J., in 1885 ; was acquired by the Navy during World War I ; and commissioned 27 November 1917. Madrono operated on patrol out of San Francisco Bay until returned, by Executive order of 4 July 1919, t& the custody of the Department of Commerce with the Lighthouse Service.
