Frieda (No. 1618), a cargo ship, was built in 1912 by Fore River Shipbuilding Co., Quincy, Mass.; chartered by the Navy 9 October 1918; and commissioned the same day, Lieutenant Commander H. J. Hansen, USNRF, in command.

Frieda carried Army cargo to France from New York between 19 October 1918 and 16 December. She was decommissioned 28 January 1919, and returned to the Shipping Board.
